Kumamoto Prefecture is blessed because its groundwater flows from the volcanic Aso area. Because Kikuchi stands at the base of Mount Aso, its water is very famous even within Kumamoto and the water of Kikuchi valley where the source is located has been selected as one of the 100 best waters in Japan. Moreover, being part of Aso's volcanic belt, Kikuchi city is also famous for its hot-spring water. In our hot-spring bath, we don't boil the water, dilute the water or recirculate the water. Our bath is often described as 'the water of beautiful skin' or 'makeup water' by our many happy guests.
