Methodology

Based on actual displayed prices on Hotevi.com across at least 20 hotels in each capital, sampled between 2026-02-20 and 2026-04-21. Prices are the exact rates a user would see when searching on Hotevi.com for the same capital.

Source. Live availability sampling via the price intelligence pipeline (pi_price_data). Each record is a single-night rate for a standard room, captured on one of several future stay dates within the window.
Capitals. Matched against the list of UN member-state capital cities in data/un_capitals.php.
Inclusion threshold. A capital is included only if at least 20 distinct hotels had a live rate captured in the 60-day window.
Metric. The median 1-night rate across all sampled hotels in the capital; the 3-night rate reported is this median × 3 (a midweek-style three-night stay proxy). Medians (not means) are used to prevent single-luxury outliers from distorting the figure. All prices in USD.
Refresh cadence. Quarterly. Next refresh: 2026-Q3.
Included capitals this quarter. Paris, London, Rome, Tokyo, Madrid, Singapore, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Doha.
Excluded this quarter. All other UN capitals — the priced-hotel sample did not meet the 20-hotel threshold in the sample window. We expand this index as coverage grows.
Caveats. Prices reflect supply on hotevi.com only and may differ from other booking platforms. Capitals whose small-sample inventory leans to luxury will show higher medians than a blanket "average hotel" price.
