Sawara was called 'Edo-masari' for its flourishing of transportation by water. The people of Sawara have adopt the culture of the Edo Period and create an original culture. For that reason, historical townscapes still remains along the coast of Ono river and Katori Way. For long periods of time this town has been working to preserve the historic buildings and attempt to revitalize the town and these efforts was recognized by central government. Sawara was designated as a first 'Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings' in Kanto region on December, 1996. This place is known as 'living townscape' because even now many of the residents take over the family business and run a business in this historical district. Around the hotel guests can easily find historical townscapes and picturesque spots, used to shoot dramas and movies. Also we are close to lot of appealing sightseeing spots such as Katori shrine and Sawara Dashi Hall ( folk museum ). This area has many restaurants and everyday lot of guests come by sightseeing bus to see historical town.
